National Clam Chowder Day At Blue Water Grill


 - Clam Chowder Day -

Winter can be rough at times. It's cold, sometimes wet, and someone around you is probably sick (bummer). We all do our best to find ways to stay warm, and when your outside all day in the cold there is nothing better than to be inside your home, wrapped in a blanket, eating a bowl of hot soup.....if it's homemade even better! There are many soups out there, all of them delicious in their own way, and everyone has their favorite.  

This month I learned that National Clam Chowder Day landed on the 21st, and Clam Chowder just happens to be my personal favorite. With no hesitation I eagerly marked it on my calendar all the while salivating on myself. I wanted a bowl right then and there in my tummy. I needed the immediate satisfaction one feels when they finish their favorite meal. However, I promised myself to hold out till the 21st so that this post would be passionately composed and to prove to myself that I have a bit of self control.   

When today (the 21st) came, my decision had been well made. I was absolutely going to The Blue Water Grill to get my Clam Chowder soup on National Clam Chowder Day! I may be biased in my opinion, but a while back my family and I ate at their Newport location where I ordered, you guessed it.......Clam Chowder.

Lo and behold, there it is, what a beauty. We devoured our bowls like crazed fiends. Oyster Crackers and hot sauce are essential. For anyone concerned about the absence of a bread bowl, they serve complimentary Sourdough bread. Nuff said, get to dipping!

Overall the experience was nice. As soon as I walked through the door I was welcomed by the staff, and promptly seated by a charming blonde hostess. Our waitress, Gilmarie was the most accommodating, especially in comparison to other restaurants i've visited. She explained the menu items thoroughly with knowledge and expertise. I'm sure that all of the servers there are just as informative and personable as her, but consider yourself lucky if you are fortunate enough to be graced by her presence. She will take good care of you!

I know that this post was supposed to be about Clam Chowder, but after glancing at the menu I couldn't stop there. I ended up ordering the Smoked Ahi, Albacore and Salmon platter as a 2nd appetizer.

Then for my main entree I ordered a Lobster Roll which came with House-Made Chips, all paired with a glass of Robert Renzoni Pinot Grigio. (Of course I had to go with a local wine)
